The Lyndon B. Johnson Student Center previously featured an informational wall dedicated to Lyndon B. Johnson, the 36th President of the United States and namesake of the Student Center.
Over the past year, I began designing a new vision for the space to preserve the significance of the Student Center’s namesake while bringing the experience into a more modern visual style. The goal was to move away from a traditional historical display and create something contemporary and connected to the Student Center’s current identity.
The Before
While maintaining the integrity of the information presented, we recognized that the previous panels featured an outdated visual style and attempted to condense too much of Lyndon B. Johnson’s legacy into a single installation. The content felt crowded and constrained, so we saw an opportunity to rethink the experience entirely. The solution was to spread the information across three blank walls, creating a more immersive way to explore Johnson’s legacy, all while fitting naturally within the new spaces designated for the installation.
3rd Floor Hallway
With our recent third-floor renovation, we knew the hallway was missing something. The third-floor meeting room hallway was transformed into a visual celebration of the Texas State experience. I designed a series of vinyl graphics that bring together recognizable elements of campus.
At the center of the installation sits an acrylic display featuring a subtle Bobcat pattern as its textured backdrop. Together, the graphics and 3D element create a cohesive environmental experience that celebrates both the history and energy of the university while giving the hallway a modern identity.
The Before
As you can see, there wasn’t much happening here! The hallway was in the middle of a larger renovation, leaving the space feeling unfinished and underutilized. We saw the renovation as the perfect opportunity to bring some visual feel into the space.
All projects were created in Illustrator and Photosho, and fabricated through a local vinyl installation company.
